Base Camp Alpha

Base Camp Alpha is Rawhyde’s introductory adventure tour, designed for riders who want a real taste of backcountry exploration right after completing their training. Held on the Monday and Tuesday following each training weekend, this tour takes you deep into the Mojave to experience iconic terrain, stunning vistas, and some of the desert’s most legendary landmarks.

You’ll ride to the historic Burro Schmidt Tunnel, a hand-carved passageway cut through solid rock over decades, and explore it on foot before continuing into wide-open desert landscapes. The adventure continues at the Trona Pinnacles, a surreal field of towering tufa spires that looks like it belongs on another planet. The route mixes flowing two-track, mild technical sections, and scenic stretches that reward smooth riding without overwhelming newer adventurers.

Each day is fully supported with professional guides, chase vehicles, hydration stops, and on-trail coaching whenever needed. Back at camp, you’ll enjoy great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and the camaraderie that makes Rawhyde tours special.
